Estevan Police Service members were called to domestic disputes, break and enter incidents and other calls during the past week.

Police were called to a report of an assault in progress in northeast Estevan during the Oct. 6 day shift. A man was arrested at his vehicle near the comer of King Street and Petterson Drive. Investigation and follow-up statements into the matter determined an assault didn’t take place, and it was a verbal argument. The young caller was frightened for a family member and dialed 911. The young boy who called police was advised he did the right thing. The man was released from police custody without charges.

Police were also called to a report of a possible impaired driver during the day shift. A licence plate was obtained, and police had a suspect driver, but the motorist arrived home before the vehicle was located by police.

Police stopped a vehicle for its driving actions after it left a northeast lounge during the Oct. 7 night shift. The driver was found to be operating an unregistered vehicle. The driver had been drinking and a demand for a roadside breath sample was made, but the driver failed to comply with the request. The driver also resisted police. The 27-year-old man from Lloydminster, Alberta is facing multiple charges in connection with this incident, and he was held in custody until he was sober.

Police also arrested a 34-year-old Estevan woman, who had a warrant for her arrest for missing court earlier in the week. She was held in custody until she could be taken to court on Oct. 8.

While dealing with the 34-year-old woman, a 35-year-old man was also arrested from the same place, as he was found to be breaching conditions of his undertaking. He is supposed to be abiding by a curfew at one of two residences and he was not at either location. He was also held in custody until the morning of Oct. 8 to appear in court.

Police responded to two residential alarms during the night shift. Both appear to be false as everything was secure. No owner or key holder was available.

Police were called to a domestic dispute in north Estevan during the Oct. 8 night shift. The initial information seemed to indicate there was some danger to children, but the report was quickly corrected and it was a domestic argument. Police mediated the situation and one party left for the night. No further action was needed.

Police were then called to a downtown apartment for a report of a break and enter to the residence. Police spoke to witnesses and came up with a suspect. Police recovered the property from a man and woman who claimed they were keeping it safe for the owner. The woman and the owner are known to each other and are friends. Police suspect the man and the woman had other plans. The property was recovered thanks to some good descriptions by witnesses of the people and the vehicle involved.

While dealing with the call, police were dispatched to a report of a possible assault in the south end of the city. The suspects left prior to arrival and actually drove to the police station to speak with officers. Police are investigating the incident and have taken several statements from all parties involved, and the matter remains under investigation. The people who are listed as suspects in the incident are the same people involved in the earlier incident at the downtown apartment.

Police received a complaint of someone threatening serious bodily harm to a male family member during the Oct. 10 night shift. Members are investigating, and possible criminal charges could follow.

Members who were on patrol later that night noticed lights were on in a residence that is supposed to be unoccupied.  Police entered the residence with the assistance of the owners. Three males and two females were arrested for break-and-enter to a dwelling. They were lodged in cells and given a future court date.
