Following the summer, the Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club has resumed playing bridge twice a week on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. and on Thursday afternoons at 1 p.m. at the Wheatland Seniors Centre. All bridge players are welcome to come and play. This fall, starting in October, the Club will be hosting bridge lessons for beginners or to refresh your game. In regular play on Aug. 7 there were three tables that played. Diane Bell and Barry Mactaggart placed first, edging out Gord Bell and Rick Wanner who were second. Three and a half tables played on August 14. Barry Mactaggart and Marg Stewart took top honours, followed by John Whitell and Theresa Istace in second, and Gord Bell and Jim Kaz in third.
Four tables played on Aug. 21 and in a close game Gord Bell and Marg Marinos were first-place finishers, Fred Milleker and John Whitell placed second, and Diane Bell and Barry Mactaggart came third.
Three and a half tables played on Aug. 28. Playing at 76.56 per cent, Diane Bell and Marg Stewart had a strong game to claim first, Gord Bell and Barry Mactaggart took second, and Erskine and Mildred Sandiford were third.
With four tables playing on Sept. 4, first place went to Gord Bell and Rick Wanner; second place went to Barry Mactaggart and Shirley Gregorash, and third place went to Erskine and Mildred Sandiford.
There were four tables played on Sept. 7. Gord Bell and Jim Kaz, claimed first place; Diane Bell and Marg Stewart were second; and Linda Kot and Theresa Istace took third. Four tables also played on Sept. 11 and the leaders were Diane Bell and Marg Stewart; second place finishers were Gord Bell and Jim Kaz, and third place went to Jim Brown and Jean Knibbs.
