Members of the Estevan Police Service responded to an accident, and made arrests for drug possession and impaired driving on Saturday.
Police attended to a two-vehicle collision downtown. One of the vehicles left a stop sign early and was struck by another vehicle. The driver was issued a ticket for leaving a stop sign before it was safe to do so. Estevan Emergency Medical Services attended to the accident and assessed one of the drivers. He was treated at the scene and released by EMS. One of the vehicles was able to drive away from the accident while the other had to be towed.
Officers received a call to do a welfare check on a child that may not have been supervised properly. Members attended and learned the child was able to unlock the door and get out while the parent was busy. The Ministry of Social Services was updated and made aware of the complaint.
A traffic stop in central Estevan resulted in a 52-year-old Estevan man being arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamines and MDMA under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He was also charged under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act for having open alcohol in his vehicle. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on May 3 at 9:30 a.m.
A 17-year-old Estevan youth was arrested and charged with impaired driving following a traffic stop in central Estevan. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on May 10 at 9:30 a.m.
Police attended to a disturbance at a south central residence. Members spoke to the individuals. No further action was necessary.
