Estevan Farmer's Appreciation Evening officially called off for this year

Due to current COVID restrictions and the inability to host the event in its traditional format, the Estevan Farmer’s Appreciation Evening won’t be happening this year.

Due to current COVID restrictions and the inability to host the event in its traditional format, the Estevan Farmer’s Appreciation Evening won’t be happening this year.

The dinner was initially scheduled for late March, but had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was hoped it could occur this fall, but due to the tight COVID restrictions it was decided to delay the event until 2021.

The highlight of the event each year is the presentation of the Farm Family of the Year Award. Other attractions include local 4-H speakers, a keynote address and a supper.

The event’s organizing committee did discuss alternative event ideas but it was felt that it would be difficult to move ahead in another format and still truly pay tribute to this year’s recipient under the current limit of 30 attendees for events.

The Farmer’s Appreciation Evening is always filled to capacity and it is a great opportunity to connect with local 4-H clubs, industry leaders and local producers.

A winner for the award in 2020 was selected before the event was delayed in March. That family will be recognized at next year's event. There won't be a need for nomination papers to be submitted next year.

The committee is looking for a suitable alternative if the event cannot move forward in its traditional format by March of 2021.

Farmers' Appreciation Evening is a project of the Estevan Chamber of Commerce and the Estevan Exhibition Association.
