The Estevan Fire Rescue Service (EFRS) and Estevan Police Service members were called to a two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon.

The accident that turned out to be a hit and run occurred at about 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Fifth Street and Souris Avenue South.

"When crews arrived on scene they found one vehicle still remaining. There were no injuries to the driver as a result of the collision," said Estevan Fire Chief Dale Feser.

Firefighters checked the vehicle over. It was still drivable, and the scene was turned back over to the Estevan Police Service for further investigation.

Earlier this week, firefighters also were called to assist EMS with lifting a patient. The non-emergency call came in at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Crews responded and helped EMS to deliver the patient to the hospital.

The next call came in on Tuesday at about 11 a.m. when a commercial fire alarm went off in one of the buildings on Fourth Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found out that contractors were doing some work inside the building, jackhammering concrete. The work resulted in dust that set off the alarm system.

"It was a preventable alarm, so the crews on site were briefed on what to do and make sure that the call the monitoring agency prior to commencing any work that may create any dust," said Feser.

After that crews returned to the station.
