While it’s still rather cold outside, Environment Canada has ended the extreme cold warning that was in effect for southeast Saskatchewan.
The warning was lifted at 11:13 a.m. Monday morning. An extreme cold warning had been in effect since the afternoon of Feb. 5.
Over the last 10 days, a deep freeze has blanketed the southeast, with daytime highs often struggling to exceed -30 C, and overnight lows plunging to around -40 C. Wind chills have been around -50 C.
Thanks to the cold, school buses have been cancelled and many vehicles failed to start.
The frigid temperatures have also posed a challenge for those who have to work outdoors.
The forecasted high for Feb. 15 and 16 in Estevan is -17 C each day, while the overnight low is -26 C for Monday night and -23 C for Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to warm up later this week.
