"The JAMS family, consisting of Sandy Johnson, and her three daughters Jen, Ali and Mikki, have been doing this for the last nine years. We are very thankful for this contribution to our fundraising efforts, which is just another example of the ongoing generosity found within our community," said Andria Brady, executive director of the Wor-Kin Shop.
The JAMS family each year hosts a family dinner on Christmas Day for people who would otherwise be alone on that day.
The Wor-Kin Shop has passed the $200,000 mark on their way to raising $500,000 for the new day program building, to be constructed at 808 First Avenue NW.
The ministry of Social Services advised the agency they would not provide their share of the funds until the local organization has raised their full amount of $500,000 before construction can begin.
"With the escalation in construction costs, we are still optimistic that a spring/summer 2013 start can happen, with the support of the citizens and businesses in Weyburn," said Brady.
