Four new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan; one is in the south

There are four new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan to report on June 24, according to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health. Three new cases were tested in Saskatchewan and one new case was a Saskatchewan resident tested out of province.

There are four new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan to report on June 24, according to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health.

Three new cases were tested in Saskatchewan and one new case was a Saskatchewan resident tested out of province. 

This brings the Saskatchewan total to 757 cases.

Two of the new cases are in the far north, one is in the north and one is in the south. The location of the case in the south was not disclosed by the Ministry of Health.

Of the 757 reported COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan, 101, or about 13.3 per cent are considered active. 

A total of 643 people, or about 85 per cent, have recovered.

Five individuals are hospitalized. Four are receiving inpatient care, with two in the south and two in Saskatoon, and one person is in intensive care in the south.

Fifty-four cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the south; 35 of these cases are considered active.

There have 314 cases from the far north, 185 from the Saskatoon area, 112 from the north, 80 from the Regina area and 12 are from the central region.

Of the 757 cases in the province, 157 cases are travellers, 456 are community contacts (including mass gatherings); 100 have no known exposures and 44 are under investigation by local public health.

Overall in Saskatchewan, 55 cases are health care workers; however, the source of the infections may not be related to health care in all instances.

A total of 107 cases involve people 19 years of age and under, 260 cases are in the 20-39 age range, 239 are in the 40-59 age range, 130 are in the 60-79 age range and 21 are in the 80-plus range.

Fifty-one per cent of the cases are females and 49 per cent are males.

Thirteen deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported.

To date, 61,856 COVID‐19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. As of June 22, when other provincial and national numbers were available from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 46,345 people tested per million population. The national rate was 66,053 people tested per million population.
