Roemer fundraiser

Nathan Roemer stands with his sister Michelle on stage at the Weyburn Legion Hall, as behind them there is a capacity crowd on hand for the fundraiser supper and silent auction on Friday night, to raise funds towards paying for a specially-trained service dog for Nathan. The event was conceived and organized by Michelle with assistance by many friends and family, and included a lasagna supper, which was donated by the Co-op and served by Legion volunteers, along with silent auction items along the wall at right. Nathan and his family are about halfway through a two-year process to have a service dog trained and partnered with Nathan to assist him in his everyday life. Nathan has been diagnosed with a chromosonal abnormality called Partial Trisomy 13q with Partial Monosomy 11q, which has led to his developmental, physical and behavioural issues, some of which mimic autism, but he has not been specifically diagnosed with autism and is therefore not eligible for funding resources that are available for those with autism.
