One of two combines works its way up a field of peas on the farm of Russ Leguee near Fillmore the evening of Aug. 27, as the sun sets in the West. Sarah said they've had a lot of delays but have been doing the best they can; yields have been decent so far, and they are hoping for some long sunny days. Farmers in the southeast have been frustrated from getting much of their harvesting done with the rainfall that has been falling in the last couple of weeks throughout the area. Besides the delays in harvesting, the excess moisture can also lead to down-grading of crop quality, and to crop diseases caused by the high levels of humidity.
