Jessie Watamanuk dumps over 1,000 little plastic ducks into the Souris River from the Third Street bridge to begin the City's first-ever Duck Derby on Sunday afternoon. Strong cross-winds blew many of the ducks into the riverbank, but a few managed to float downstream, and an hour after release the top five ducks were determined to be the winners, with the City of Weyburn employees raising $3,415; half the proceeds were paid out to the top five winners, and the other half will go to the United Way Communithon fundraiser. The winners were, from first to fifth, Lisa Davis, $683; Jeff Richards, $341.50; Canada Post employees, $341.50; Brenda Braun, $170.75, and Charlene Keen, $170.75.
