The Crafty Kids program run by the Signal Hill Arts Centre had its first session on Thursday.
The four-week art program is for children aged 6-8 and runs every Thursday from 4:30 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. at the Leisure Centre.
For the first class, the children made fabric bowls. First they covered the outside of a styrofoam bowl with Elmer's glue and then stuck cut-out pieces of fabric, string and feathers to it. Once the glue was dry, they were able to separate the styrofoam bowl from the materials that were now being held together in a bowl shape by the glue.
The bowls are mostly meant to be used a decoration or to hold office supplies such as paperclips and thumbtacks. If the bowl is well made without any holes in it, it could work to hold dry snacks.
