As the walls of the old came crashing down, the excitement of the new is on the horizon for one Weyburn family as the Habitat for Humanity project took the first step in construction last week.
Two weeks ago, the Dunn family was announced as the recipient family of the Habitat for Humanity project.
Angie Dunn sat down with contractor John Hulbert, who is overseeing the project, to finalize designs for the home.
"It's still so overwhelming. We've chosen a three bedroom bi-level," said Dunn, adding that every decision made right down to the shingles and siding colours is hers.
Now that the floor plan and design is done up, they are waiting for the blue prints, said Winston Bailey, Weyburn Habitat chair.
"Once we get the blue prints, we can get the material supplies and subtrade costs in and we will see what building costs will be," said Bailey.
Weyburn Habitat hopes to have the sod turning ceremony prior to the beginning of May, he added.
