A 36-year-old man is facing charges of assaulting a police officer and committing mischief following an incident at a local pub on April 5.
Weyburn Police Services were dispatched to the parking lot of a local pub where a taxi driver was having difficulty with a fare.
The passenger had become violent and had kicked out a taxi window and became increasingly violent with the police, and at one point, kicked an officer in the chest.
The man continued to struggle and resist while being placed in the police vehicle and while in cells at the police station.
He will appear in court later this month.
On April 6, police were dispatched to a neighborhood complaint of a noisy party on Staveley Crescent. A warning was given to the 16-year-old female resident and assistance was given to shut down the party.
Police were called to a motor vehicle collision on Railway Avenue between a moving vehicle and a parked vehicle on April 6. The moving vehicle sustained considerable damage and was towed from the scene. A 23-year-old male has been charged with driving without due care and attention.
A 65-year-old male was arrested April 6 for failing to leave a local pub and lodged in custody without incident. He was later released when sober.
The police were called to a local pub to deal with an injured and disoriented male on April 6. A 55-year-old male was located in the parking lot suffering a head injury and was transported to the Weyburn General Hospital where he was admitted. The investigation into the injury determined the intoxicated male had fallen and struck his head.
Police were dispatched to a report of a two vehicle collision on 18th Street and 1st Avenue. There were no injuries, though both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. A 56-year-old male has been charged with proceeding before safe from a Yield sign.
A 22-year-old male attended the Weyburn Police Service office on April 2. He was intoxicated, disoriented and confused. He was transported to the Weyburn General Hospital where it was learned that he had been at a party and suspected he may have been slipped a drug. After he was cleared at the hospital with nothing but alcohol in his system he was lodged in cells until sober.
On April 1, as a result of a complaint, the Weyburn Police Service initiated an investigation into the trafficking of marihuana. As a result of the investigation a 15-year-old female has been charged with possession of marihuana. A 14-year-old male has been arrested and charged with trafficking in marihuana. The 14-year-old male was released on his undertaking to his parents. Both youth will be making court appearances later this month.
Weyburn Police Service was dispatched to a report of a domestic disturbance between a 48-year-old male and 47-year-old female on April 1. It was determined that the dispute was over the disposition of property. The matter was mediated for the time being with no further police involvement required.
Weyburn Police Service received a complaint of a vehicle having been vandalized while parked at a Weyburn business on April 1. The parked vehicle had a tired flattened. The matter is still under investigation.
