It was a busy day in Manor on Saturday, July 20 while everyone celebrated the 40th anniversary of Manor Fun Daze. The community welcomed everybody for a fun filled day with the family. The day started out with a pancake breakfast followed by the annual parade which was “retro” themed to celebrate 40 years! The retro themed float that took first place was the Pig n Whistle tribute band consisting of band members Micki McCrimmon, Shannon Smyth, Cindi McCauley, Debbie Cossette (Gould), Joretta King and Heather McCauley.
Manor volunteer fire department had a successful hotdog and burger sale for lunch to raise money for new Personal Protective Equipment. Throughout the day the annual “Skid” Clarke memorial slo-pitch tournament took place and welcomed teams from all communities.
Before the bull-riding started everyone went and found supper whether it was the food booth brought to you by the Moose Mountain Air Cadets or the roast supper from Weirs Catering. To celebrate, Weirs Catering also provided a Manor Fun Daze 40th anniversary cake.
This year the PBR (Professional Bull Riding) consisted of both adult and junior bull riding as well as junior steer riding. Jacob Gardner from Fort St. John, British Columbia took home first place. Gardner competed against 22 riders and made it into the finals, finishing the evening with a score of 89.5 out of 10 finalist.
