The Heritage Village will be offering many tours and demonstrations to entertain those residents who want to step back in time during the Weyburn Wheat Festival. Heritage Village is one of the many venues that will be hosting Wheat Festival activities. The Heritage Village Days will be held 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 11 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 12.
“We will have a lot of different things going on,” said Nicole Clampitt, one of the Heritage Village summer guides. Activities include on stage entertainment for all ages, children’s activities and games, demonstrations, a silent auction, along with a barbecue and pie for sale at the concession stand.
Entertainers this year include Tylan Charlton, Lindsey Bell, Lexie Tytlandsvik, Emma Von Hagen, Chloe Gill, James Dionne and Dee Tricky Feet Studio.
“We also have a lot of volunteers who will be doing demonstrations. We have rope making, blacksmithing, ice cream making, butter making, and our fire truck rides will be going on once again this year,” said Clampitt.
Of course, all the houses and buildings at Heritage Village will be open for tours during the Heritage Village Days. In the past few years, Heritage Village has opened a few new places, including the railroad station and the newspaper building.
“We will have Mel Fisher running the printing press in the newspaper building during the Saturday hours of the Heritage Village. Hopefully he will also be able to do a demonstration during Friday’s hours.”
Heritage Village is still accepting donations to their silent auction, which will be displayed during the Heritage Village Days. There is no admission to attend the Heritage Village Days, but a silver collection will be taken at the gates.
The summer programs have kept the Heritage Village tour guides very busy so far this year. One of the new programs at Heritage Village is the Pioneer Kids Club. “We got a much better experience than what we were expecting. We are hoping that we can hold it again next year,” said Clampitt.
