Midale Central School is ready for grad ceremonies

Midale (cpd) - The Grade 12 graduating class is busy getting for their graduation that will be held on Friday, June 15, at 7 p.m. The exercises will be held at the Midale Central School gymnasium with the grand march to follow. The following will graduate this year: Paige Bell, Kaelum Bieber, Kimberly Brasseur, James Kalum Brennan, Dustin Duncan, Braiden Effa, Shawn Eggum, Owen Emde, Felicia Ereth, Brayden Ganson, Taylor Hoium, James Messer, Amanda Mohr, Aspen Orsted, Braxton Palmer, Mitchell Scharnatta, Keely Toles, Bradley Tomiski, Michael Wiebe and Sierra Wiens.

Bev Sobush-Melby will be displaying her "Horse Play" themed art at the Weyburn Credit Union Art Gallery for the months of May and June. The display includes artwork with rodeo, trail rides and family pictures.

The Midale Lions Club is having a steak night on Saturday, June 2, at the Midale 39ers Centre. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available from any Midale Lions Club member or local businesses.

Mainprize Marketplace will run on June 16, July 14 and August 25. They will be open from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on these dates at Pederson Place. For more information or to book a table call Julie VanAlstyne.

The School Mentorship wind-up took place on May 30. The students attended "Puss and Boots" at the Orpheum Theatre in Estevan.
All Grade 10-12 students participate in the Internship Program that will run from June 4-8.

Grad banquet tickets must be purchased by May 31 as well as their class histories are due this day.

Kalum Brennan and teacher Dustin Wagner travelled to Charlottetown, PEI for the Canada-Wide Science Fair. Kalum received second overall in the regional science fair for his project called "All Jacked Up", which was a jack that used a pulley and a winch to lift trailers. They travelled to Charlottetown on May 12 and returned on May 19. While in Charlottetown they had the opportunity to tour Charlottetown and area. They visited Confederation Bridge, Confederation Building, Cow Ice Cream Factory, East Point Lookout and the singing sands. Kalum did not receive an award for his project, but he did enjoy his week out in PEI.

The Midale Track Team went to sub-districts and all seven qualified to move on to Districts that were held on May 23. Cody Gosselin will move on to provincials for midget boys long jump on June 1.

If your son or daughter is between the ages of 9 and 14 and would like to compete in the Hersey track and field meet on June 5 in Weyburn at the Comprehensive School track, please let Mrs. Klemenz know their chosen events. Elementary track practices will continue to run Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch time.

Midale Central School has a number of PC's to donate to students that may not otherwise have access to technology. Computers are donated "as-is" and not sold. No more than one PC per household/family. A computer request application form can be picked up at the office.

Mr. Rau will be running golf at the school until June 14. Grades 3 and 4 will practice Tuesdays from 3:30-4:15 p.m., Grades 5 and 6 will go on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Grades 7-9 will practice Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. and Thursdays will be at Mainprize Golf Course from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m. Students are strongly encouraged to bring their own sets of clubs to practices as there are limited sets of clubs at the school and park. Students in Grades 7 to 9 should bring money to purchase a set of range golf balls to practice with.

Cymri 4-H Beef Club is holding their annual Achievement Day on Saturday, June 30 at 1 p.m. It will be held at Ron Emde's farm and lunch will be available for purchase. This event is open to everyone.

The Midale Oilmen's Association have set July 27 for their annual fundraising golf tournament at Mainprize Park. It is a two-person best ball format. Contact Darren Moldenhauer or Catrina Moldenhauer to enter or for more information.

The Town of Midale would like to welcome Ashley Langford as the new assistant administrator in the town office.

The town of Midale is hoping to run swimming lessons again this year, however, they only have one certified instructor which means they may not be able to run every level. They are hoping to run lessons the week of July 9-14 and July 23-28. Please pre-register by the end of May so they know exactly how many kids and what levels they need to run. Please call the town office to register. If anyone in the community has their certification for teaching swimming lessons, please call Linda or Ashley at the town office.

The Midale Museum will be open for visitors and tours until Labour Day weekend. The annual Threshing Bee and Heritage days will be held on July 28-29. Be sure to come out and enjoy the pancake breakfast each morning.

Verner Emde passed away May 22 at the age of 83. Funeral service for Verner was held on May 26 at Zion Lutheran Church in Weyburn. Lunch was held at the Midale Civic Centre.
