The RCMP has concluded the investigation into the deaths of the two persons at a business, the Midway Family Restaurant, in Midale on April 20, and has determined this was a murder-suicide.
The investigation determined that the victim, Mary Lou Clauson, aged 61 of Midale, was killed by Patrick Ng, aged 74, also of Midale. Clauson had been an employee at the restaurant owned by Ng.
The cause of death is not being disclosed at the request of both the families.
From the time of the discovery of the deceased male and female, the RCMP was not seeking any suspects and believed this to be an isolated incident.
The investigation consisted of a forensic examination of the scene by the RCMP Forensic Identification Unit, several interviews of potential witnesses by RCMP Regina Major Crimes, and forensic autopsies of both persons.
Saskatchewan RCMP is releasing this information in accordance with an exception under sec. 69(2) of the federal Privacy Act. The RCMP does not expect to provide any further updates.
