Prices are as follows: Elementary, $6; High School, $7.50; Seniors/Adults, $10; Preschoolers are free. For a family of four, $29; family of five, $35; and for a family of six, $40. (Add $6 per person for larger families.)
The Midale and Area Craft, Trade and Bake Sale will be held Sunday, Dec. 4, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Midale Civic Centre. For information on renting a table call Catrina Moldenhauer. There are still tables available. There will be a Weyburn Atom Tournament in Midale this day as well.
The Taco in a Bag hot lunch on Dec. 15 will be sponsored by the Midale Oilmen's Association. All children and staff at Midale Central School will have their lunch paid for by the Oilmen's Association.
The school's lost and found buckets are overflowing. They have accumulated more items in the past three months than they usually do in an entire school year. Please take time to look through the collection as they will be donating left over items in December.
There will be public skating on Friday, Dec. 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. There will not be any other public skating this weekend due to two hockey tournaments taking place.
The Midale Mustangs next home game will be against Carnduff on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m.
On Saturday, Dec. 3, the Midale Petroleum Novice Storm are having their home tournament. Please come out and support your local hockey teams. There are six teams taking part in this tournament. Game times are 9:30, 10:45, 12:00, 2:00, 3:30, and 5 p.m. There are door prizes and other things going on as well. Prizes will be awarded at 1:15 during a 45-minute break.
The new Midale Public Library hours beginning Jan. 3, 2012 will be: Tuesdays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesdays from 2 to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 4 to 8 p.m. and Fridays 10 to 2. The library is also going to have a table set up at the Midale and Area Craft, Trade and Bake Sale on Sunday, Dec. 4. They will be selling gently used, good quality books. A lot of the books have been generously donated by patrons of the library and are greatly appreciated.
Interdenominational Sunday school is held at the Midale Bethlehem Lutheran Church every Sunday at 9:45 a.m. for all children aged 3 to 12 years. Everyone is welcome.
The Midale Lions Club is having a Christmas Bingo on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. at the Midale Seniors Centre. They are also doing a poinsettia fundraiser. If you would like one, call Marilyn Gust or Linda Carlson. The poinsettias cost $20 each.
Two teams from Midale Cymri 4-H Club went up to the Regina Agribition and competed in the grooming event held on Nov. 22. In the senior class were Jordan Martinson, Logan Martinson and Wacey McCaw. The junior team consisted of Kayla Martin from Midale, Zach Graham and Caitlyn Graham from Macoun They took first place in team grooming out of eight teams. A reminder to the 4-H members that a new weigh date has been set. It will be held on Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. at the Wilgenbusch farm.
A new board has been elected for the Midale Museum. The president is John New, Ken Swenson is the vice-president, Darryl Cox is the treasurer and Bev Sobush-Melby is the secretary. The museum has a new project started called the "Suitcase Project". Items from the museum will be put into a suitcase and then taken places in Midale and area for people to view. They are doing this to promote what the museum has to offer. There is a person writing a book about the 1953 Oil Discovery in Midale and they are looking for pictures or information on this event. If anybody has information or pictures they would be willing to share, please call Bev Sobush-Melby.
The Bethlehem Lutheran Church Women would like to invite all women in Midale and area to attend their Christmas Social. It will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. Please call Bev Sobush-Melby if you plan to attend. They are asking that you bring a nativity ornament to display on a table and a discussion will be held about all the ornaments that are brought.
On Nov. 20, an installation service was held to welcome Pastor Cicely McDougall as the new pastor. There were several guest pastors in attendance as well as people from Midale, Estevan, Weyburn and Bromhead. The guest speaker was Rev. Martin Olson from Weyburn. The Lutheran Women held a Thanksgiving program and were pleased to have guest singers Sharon Torkelson and Heather Torkelson join them.
On Nov. 27, the Sunday School Children travelled to Mainprize Manor to sing to the residents there. The children will be performing at morning worship on Dec. 11. Sunday School will begin at 9 a.m. to allow practice time. They will perform at 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome. As a Christmas project, all Sunday school children are asked to bring an unwrapped Christmas gift for a child of their age and gender to be donated to the Salvation Army for distribution to a child who may not receive a gift this year. (Price range of $10 to $20) Please bring the gifts to the church between Dec. 4 and 11.
