Law enforcement issued 356 tickets last week, including seven charges for impaired driving, during a province-wide traffic safety blitz.

Operation Overdrive, targeting impaired driving, took place May 8 and 9 across the province. It coincided with a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) event in Weyburn, which focused on seatbelt, cell phone and aggressive driving violations in addition to impaired driving.

Combined, Operation Overdrive and the Weyburn STEP event resulted in a total of 356 tickets, including:

7 impaired driving charges

102 seatbelt violations

34 cell phone violations

38 speeding violations

76 stop sign violations

99 various other infractions

SGI's role in these monthly blitzes is to help raise awareness of key traffic safety issues in the province, with the goal of making our roads safer for all road users.
