ESTEVAN — Cash and cocaine were seized and an Estevan woman has been charged after a July 10 drug bust in the city.
According to a news release from the Estevan Police Service, a search warrant was authorized under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and was executed at a residence in south Estevan on July 10, following a drug trafficking investigation conducted by the EPS's Drug Intelligence Unit.
During the search, police seized approximately $10,000 cash, along with cocaine with a street value estimated at $2,000.
As a result of the investigation, the EPS said 35-year-old Christina Strong of Estevan has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of the proceeds of crime exceeding $5,000. Strong was released in front of a justice of the peace and the information was sworn. She was released from custody on conditions and her first court appearance will be Sept. 8 in Estevan Provincial Court.

In other recent police news, the EPS received a report July 8 of a male going through a garbage dumpster along the 1600-block of First Street. An individual matching the description provided was located a short distance away and following an interaction with police, was arrested for public intoxication. During the arrest, the 38-year old Estevan man uttered threats to kill the police and assaulted a police officer. He was lodged in cells until sober and later released on an appearance notice for court in September.
Police responded to a domestic disturbance in south Estevan. After speaking with witnesses and a victim, a 41-year old Estevan man was arrested for assault and also charged for breaching conditions of a probation order. He was lodged in cells to appear in court the following morning.
A 33-year old Estevan woman was arrested for assault after police received a statement from a victim earlier in the day. The accused was also charged with mischief for damaging property of the victim. She was released on an undertaking with conditions of no contact and will make a court appearance in September to speak to the charges.
A 44-year-old Estevan man was arrested after being caught breaching conditions of an undertaking requiring no contact with a person he assaulted in May. Further investigation revealed additional breaches by contacting the same person and as a result, he was held in custody and appeared before a judge the following morning to speak to the charges.
Police responded to a report of an erratic driver who was observed to be driving through the ditches near Lynn Prime Park. A traffic stop of a suspect vehicle occurred, which resulted in a male youth being charged for stunting under the Traffic Safety Act.
A report of a stolen quad was received by EPS in the early morning hours of July 9. The quad is described as a blue Polaris. The matter remains under investigation.
The EPS received a 911 transfer call July 9 in which the operator was only hearing noise over the phone. Police determined the call was coming from a local health facility. The individual calling was a confused patient/resident and no assistance was required.
Police received a report of theft from a vehicle. A contractor was working in the city and had a pole saw was stolen from their work vehicle. The matter is still under investigation.
