Motorists reminded to slow down in school areas

On September 7, the Weyburn Police Service received calls of a disturbance in the area of Government Road and First Avenue. Police members attended and located a male and female who were having a loud verbal argument.

On September 5, the Weyburn Police Service received a report of an intoxicated male who had fallen. Police located the individual and transported him to his home.

Also on September 5, a member of the Weyburn Police Service located a vehicle stopped on First Avenue West with substantial damage but the driver was not at the scene. The investigation later determined the driver had swerved to miss a deer and hit a pole. As the accident occurred outside the City of Weyburn, it was forwarded to the local RCMP.

On September 4, Weyburn Police Service members attended to a residence in the east end of the city after getting a call of a disturbance. The occupants, a father and son, were having an argument with items being thrown out on the lawn. Police spoke to those involved and were able to calm the situation. No charges were laid.

Also on September 4, members of Weyburn Police Service responded to a residence in the downtown area for a complaint of an intoxicated person who was causing problems. Police located and arrested a 34 year old male, who was lodged in cells until sober.

On September 1, the Weyburn Police Service attended to a reported Break and Enter of a dwelling house. The investigation determined it was domestic related. Those involved were spoken to and advised the incident was a civil matter and no criminal charges were laid.

Also on September 1, the Weyburn Police Service received a complaint that a dog that had been running at large entered a yard and killed a pet rabbit. The Humane Society also attended and impounded the dog. The owner of the dog, a 30 year old female, has been charged under the City Bylaw for allowing a dog to run at large. The accused will be making her first court appearance later this month.

The Weyburn Police Service also focused on traffic speeds and cell phone usage this past week as students returned to school. Motorists are reminded to pay attention and to slow down when in those areas frequented by children coming and going to school.

The Weyburn Police Service is also asking for public assistance in identifying an individual who is the suspect of two indecent acts. These incidents occurred at Walmart on August 27 and 28 where a male suspect exposed himself to customers. The male is described as Caucasian, 50 to 55 years of age, 6 ft, 200 lbs, bald, and at the time of offence was wearing a camouflage cap, grey t-shirt, and pink shorts.
