A total of 15 nominations were received for four awards this year. The award winners will be announced during a luncheon on April 20 at the Wylie-Mitchell building.

Two women were nominated for the Outstanding Contribution to the Workplace Award: Lorrie Coumont, who works at Canyon Technical Services Ltd.; and Amanda Minchin, who is at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club.

The candidates for the Ida Petterson Memorial Award for Outstanding Entrepreneur are Lisa Grimes, who is the owner-operator of Exhale Massage Clinic and Day Spa; Kristen Harrison, who is the owner of the Eat.Weight.Love Nutrition Centre; and Daphne Lavina, who is the owner of the Aces Connections Consultancy Inc.

Hannah Battersby, Cassidy Clow, Kyla Hamilton, Kelsie Jackiw and Kelsey Potoma are nominated for the Shirley Orsted Memorial Award for Outstanding Young Woman of Today.

Bonnie Gibson, Kathryn Gilliss, Wendy Godfrey, Colleen Jensen and Sara Pippus are vying for the SaskTel Outstanding Contribution to the Community Award.

“We’re delighted with the outstanding women who have been nominated,” said Valerie Hall, who chairs the Women of Today Awards committee and emceed the press conference.

Hall also announced that Regina's Gina Sebastian will be the guest speaker at the awards luncheon. She described Sebastian as a very inspiring speaker.

This year marks Quota’s 40th year in Estevan, and so they will use the ceremony to pay tribute to women serving the community. She hopes the awards luncheon will attract a large contingent of former Quota members and women who have served the community.

This year marks the 18th edition of the Women of Today Awards in Estevan.
