There is one new case of COVID-19 in the southeast region, according to the provincial Ministry of Health.
The active case is in southeast Zone 2, which covers the northeast corner of this region. Communities in Zone 2 are between Highway 13 and Highway 1. There are currently six active cases in the southeast; four active cases are in Zone 4, which includes Estevan.
There have been 19 cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in the southeast region over the past 6 1/2 months.
There are 11 new cases of COVID-19 to report, bringing the total to 1,846 reported cases. Three cases are in Saskatoon and three are in north central. Single cases are in the northwest, central east and Regina zones. One case’s location is pending.
Of the 1,846 reported cases, 123, or about 6.7 per cent, are considered active.
Eighteen more people have recovered, bringing the Saskatchewan total to 1,699, or 92 per cent of those diagnosed.
Eight people are in hospital and receiving inpatient care. Seven of those are in Saskatoon and one is in the south central zone.
There have been 441 cases from the south area (222 southwest, 200 south central, 19 southeast).
As for the rest of the province, 366 cases are from the Saskatoon area, 358 cases are from the far north area (349 far northwest, nine far northeast), 275 cases are from the north area (132 northwest, 76 north central, 67 northeast), 238 cases are from the central area (175 central west, 63 central east) and 167 cases are from the Regina area.
Of the 1,846 cases in the province to date, 278 cases are travellers, 919 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 533 have no known exposures and 116 are under investigation by local public health.
Sixty-nine cases are healthcare workers; however, the source of the infections may not be related to healthcare in all instances.
A total of 309 cases involve people 19 years of age and under, 601 cases are in the 20-39 age range, 572 are in the 40-59 age range, 302 are in the 60-79 age range and 62 are in the 80-plus range.
Fifty per cent of the cases are females and 50 per cent are males.
Twenty-four deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported.
To date, 180,232 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. As of Sept. 22, when other provincial and national numbers are available from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 127,085 people tested per million population. The national rate was 183,596 people tested per million population.
There were 1,742 COVID-19 tests performed in Saskatchewan on Thursday.
