One new case of COVID-19 in the southeast; 24 new cases in Saskatchewan

There is one new case of COVID-19 in the southeast region, according to the daily COVID-19 update on Sunday.

The new case for the southeast is Southeast Zone 4, which includes Estevan, and spans an area from Torquay to the Manitoba border along Highway 18, and Stoughton to the Manitoba border along Highway 13. It runs north-south from areas north of Stoughton to the U.S. border.

There are more than 31,000 people in Zone 4.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began seven months ago, there have been 31 cases diagnosed in the southeast. Eleven of them are currently active. Ten of the active cases are in Zone 4.

There are 24 new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan to report, bringing the provincial total to 2,092 cases. Of those cases, 179 are considered active.

Most of the new cases in the province have been linked to either a gospel assembly event in Prince Albert, or to a single apartment complex in Regina. 

Six people are in hospital. Four are receiving in-patient care: three in Saskatoon and one in Regina. Two people are in intensive care: one in Saskatoon and one in Regina.

Also, one more person has died from COVID-19, bringing the provincial death toll to 25. The home of that person was not disclosed.

Five more people have recovered, bringing the total for the province to 1,888 recoveries.

There were 3,049 COVID-19 tests administered in Saskatchewan on Saturday, the highest total for tests to date.
