One new COVID case in the southeast; 54 in Saskatchewan

There are 54 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Oct. 26, bringing the total to 2,783 cases. One of the new cases is located in southeast Saskatchewan. The case is in Southeast Zone 4, which includes Estevan.

There are 54 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Oct. 26, bringing the total to 2,783 cases.

Of the 24 active cases in the southeast region, 20 are in Zone 4, which has a population of more than 31,000.

Fifteen of the new cases for Saskatchewan are in the north central region. Thirteen are in Saskatoon, and nine each are in Regina and the central east. As for the rest of the province, there are two cases in each of the far northwest, far northeast and northwest, and there’s one new case in the northeast.

Public health investigations are underway to determine the source of transmission for all new cases. 

Of the 2,783 reported cases, 650, or about 23.4 per cent, are considered active. 

Twenty-three people have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,108, or 75.7 per cent.

Twenty-three people are in hospital. Eighteen people are receiving inpatient care; nine in the north, seven in the Saskatoon region and two in the Regina region.  Five people are in intensive care: four in Saskatoon and one in Regina.

Twenty-five deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported to date in Saskatchewan.

There have been 48 cases of COVID-19 in the southeast region since mid-March, the fewest of any region in the province, other than the sparsely populated far north central region, which has yet to record a case.

To date, 250,241 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. As of Oct. 24, when other provincial and national numbers were available, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 169,663 people tested per million population. The national rate was 255,485 people tested per million population.

A total of 2,332 COVID-19 tests were performed in Saskatchewan on Sunday.
