A little sparrow fell out of its nest and was sitting helplessly on the ground.
While this might be quite a usual site, many people are not sure what the best move would be when they come across a bird under their feet.
Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Saskatchewan suggests that if the bird is partially bald and is unable to stand or perch on its own, it’s likely a nestling.
And while most birds have a poor sense of smell, they will not reject a baby if it is returned to the nest.
So if possible to do so safely, it’s recommended to put the bird back in the nest and watch to see if the parents return.
If one can’t reach the nest, they may try to make a new one out of a margarine container.
