Sympathies to the friends and family of the late Ralph Steinke, who passed away on Jan. 31 at the age of 96 years. He farmed in the Outram-Torquay area for many years. A funeral service was held February 5 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estevan.

Jacob Pyra and William Duncan participated in a steer riding practice session in Esterhazy at the Rocky Bar Arena.  Both cowboys had a great experience and arrived home safely. 

Rachel Duncan attended the regional competition for figure skating on Jan. 30. She came home with a bronze for her figures and a bronze for her routine. 

Congratulations to Andrea and Preston Leatherdale of Estevan on the birth of their baby girl, Marie Adria, who was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital on February 10. The proud grandparents are Gord and Pat Leatherdale of Weyburn and Terry and Wilma Mantei of Estevan. Great grandparents are Hank Lievaart of Outram and Lois Mantei of Estevan.

The first section of the 52nd annual Estevan and District Music Festival is now complete. This included speech arts, vocal, musical theatre and band. The piano section will begin April 8.  

Participants in the music festival who are from the Outram and Torquay areas include: Destiny Adams; Halle Adams; Casie and Abbie Brokenshire; Maya, Markie, Maleah, Madison and Maisey Daoust; Rachel, William and Rebecca Duncan; Jacob and Sarah Pyra; Dan Mantei; Sasha and Sierra Mantei; Kierra Phillips; Levi Stepp and Hannah Whitman. 

Rachel and Rebecca Duncan participated in the ADW Dancerz recital on March 12. Instructor April Wilhelm has announced she would be taking a year off but her daughter Janae would be filling in for her. 

Rebecca Duncan and Hannah Mantei attended the Sandy Roberts synchronized swimming competition in Regina on February 6 and 7 through the Estevan Mermaids. All teams did an exceptional job. 

Cale Adams played hockey for the Estevan TS&M bantam AA Bruins. We are pleased to report his team finished second in the South Division of their league.

Rebecca, William and Rachel Duncan participated in the 40th annual Telemiracle in Regina on March 6.  They performed a beautiful rendition of Don’t Laugh At Me and raised donations worth $1122.45.  Betty and Albert Ribling travelled up to Regina to watch the live performance. 

Rachel Duncan and Sarah and Isabelle Pyra skated in the Estevan Skating Club Carnival held at Affinity Place on March 20.  Rebecca and Rachel Duncan were honoured to sing O Canada open the program.
