Oxbow’s school moving to remote learning next week

Students at the Oxbow Prairie Horizons School will spend the final week before spring break learning remotely.

Students at the Oxbow Prairie Horizons School will spend the final week before spring break learning remotely.

In an email to the Mercury sent Friday evening, the South East Cornerstone Public School Division said they have communicated with parents and staff that the school, one of the largest in the division, will move to remote learning from Tuesday to Thursday. All are scheduled to return on April 12, following spring break.

Monday is a transition day as staff will prepare to move to online delivery. Synchronous learning schedules will be shared with families and students on Monday as well.

There will be no scheduled classes for the pre-kindergarten children.

The Grade 6 class, already on remote learning, will have classes online on Monday as they had their transition day earlier.

There have been four people in the school while infectious.

The school division also says that Souris School, an elementary school in Weyburn, will move to online learning next week, with a transition day on Monday and remote learning starting Tuesday.

The staff will communicate schedules and expectations with parents on Monday.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has declared an outbreak at both schools. There needs to be at least two cases for an outbreak to be declared.

The Mercury will have more details as they become available.
