Bill Grohn plays a sweet tune on his alto saxophone, as he recalls the days in the late 1930s, 40s and 50s when he played "big band" music in Alberta and Saskatchewan, including in a band here in Weyburn when he began farming. Later he raised and bred race horses, an activity he carried on for nearly 40 years before he retired. Bill will marking his 100th birthday on Saturday, Oct. 11, at a gathering with friends and family at the Legion Hall, with music to be supplied by a band from Regina that he has played with in the past.
