Police asking for help solving crimes of theft and vandalism

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of April 7 to 14, 2013: During the reporting period, the Weyburn Police Service received 109 calls for service, including numerous complaints in regard to accidents with deer within our city.

During the reporting period, the Weyburn Police Service received 109 calls for service, including numerous complaints in regard to accidents with deer within our city. Police are asking motorist to slow down and be cautious.

*Social media complaints continue to be a cause for concern. Citizens of all ages are asked to think before you post messages, comments and texts and be responsible when using all forms of social media.

*Police are asking citizens to be cautious of thinning ice and stay off of the river as the weather continues to warm.

*On April 15, the outdoor garage lights of Autumn Ridge Condominiums located at 104 Fifth Street were reported to be damaged. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Weyburn Police Service.

*On April 13, police were asked to assist security at a local sporting event. A 27-year-old intoxicated male smashed a picture. The male was escorted out and later re-entered the event. He was charged under the AGRA (Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act) for doing so and held in cells.

*At the same event, police broke up a fight and sent the individuals on their way.

*Police received a complaint about a male who inappropriately touched a female at this sporting event. As a result, an altercation was reported to have occurred. The matter is still under investigation.

*Police were involved in three more occurrences at this event. Individuals were taken their separate ways.

*Police were called to a local bar in regard to an altercation. As a result, a 32-year-old female was charged with causing a disturbance and assaulting a peace officer. In addition, a 27-year-old male and a 36-year-old male were charged with causing a disturbance and obstructing a peace officer. The peace officer was not injured.

*At the same establishment, a 28-year-old male was charged with obstructing a peace officer.

*Police attended a local residence in regard to a neighbor dispute. The incident led to a 29-year-old male being charged with uttering threats against two individuals.

*Police attended a local bar in regard to an altercation. Two males were separated, calmed and taken their separate ways.

*On April 12, a 15-year-old local male was charged with mischief after confessing to kicking out a light at the Weyburn Court House.

*On April 11, a local citizen reported that a large sum of cash was stolen from inside of her vehicle, which was parked in the northeast area of Weyburn. Anyone with information about this crime is advised to report to the Weyburn Police Service or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

*On April 10, police were called to a local bar to assist with two male patrons who would not leave. With police assistance, the males left without incident

*Police were called to help a 15-year-old male who was reported to be suicidal. Referrals were provided to the family. Police left without incident.

*A different 15-year-old male was charged with assaulting his guardian. He was also reported to be suicidal. He was held in cells and transported to Estevan for court the next day.

*April 10 was Weyburn's Pink Shirt Walk against bullying. The Weyburn Police Service would like to remind citizens that Bylaw 2006-3084, which is the bylaw to regulate bullying and public fighting in the City of Weyburn. Under this city law, Bullying can happen through written or electronic communication.

*On April 9, police assisted a home owner in removing an unwanted guest. A 24-year-old male was found to have a warrant for failing to appear in court. He was charged with breach of undertaking and possession of marijuana after it was found to be in his possession.
