Police charge erratic and impaired drivers

Also on September 20, the WPS received a complaint of a hit and run to a vehicle which had been parked at a local hotel. The investigation identified a suspect vehicle, which was later located and the driver found. The driver, a 21 year-old female, was subsequently charged with failing to report an accident to police.

As well, on September 20, members of the Police Service stopped a vehicle and found the driver to be exhibiting signs of being under the influence of alcohol. The driver a 21 year-old male was arrested and subsequently charged with operating a motor vehicle while over .08. The accused was later released and will attend court next month.

On September 19, members of WPS attended to a domestic dispute between a boyfriend and girlfriend. Police arrested a 34 year-old female for breach of the peace and lodged her in cells. She was released from custody in the morning.

Also, on September 19, the police received a report of a theft from a vehicle. The vehicle had been parked in the south end of the city and had been entered overnight and a wallet and cash stolen. The incident remains under investigation.

Further, on September 19, members of the WPS attended to a three vehicle accident at 1st Avenue NW and Government Road. The accident occurred after one vehicle rear ended another vehicle which had stopped in traffic. The accident then pushed one vehicle forward into another vehicle. The one driver, a 16 year-old male was charged under the Traffic Safety Act with following too close.

Also, on September 19, Weyburn Police Service, while on patrol, observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner. The vehicle was stopped and it was found the driver was disqualified from driving. The vehicle was seized and the 25 year-old male driver was charged with drive while disqualified and stunting. He will appear in court in November.

On September 18, the Weyburn Police Service received a mischief complaint, after getting a call of four individuals attempting to open the doors of parked cars. Police attended to the area and located the four individuals. Police charged two individuals, a 17 year-old and a 19 year-old male with tampering with a vehicle without the owner's consent. The investigation into this mischief and other possibly related incidents continues.

On September 17, the WPS received a complaint of a theft from a downtown business. Members of the Police Service attended and a 31 year-old male was arrested. The investigation determined the accused had been involved in previous thefts from the same location. As a result the accused was charged with two counts of theft under $5000. He was released from custody and will appear in court next month.

On September 16, members of the WPS, while on patrol, observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner. The vehicle was stopped and the driver showed signs of impairment. As a result of the investigation the driver, a 44 year-old male, was charged with Impaired Driving and exceeding .08. The accused was released and will be attending court next month.

Also, on September 16, the Weyburn Police received a complaint of a mischief after the owner of the vehicle reported the windshield of their vehicle had been smashed.

On September 15, the Weyburn Police Service received a complaint of a mischief after the victim attended to the office to report someone had spray painted and damaged their fence.

Also, on September 15, the WPS received a complaint of a dog running at large who had attacked another dog which was being walked by the owner. The dog was not injured and the investigation into identifying the owner of the other dog is ongoing.

On September 14, the Weyburn Police Service received a complaint of threatening. The victim advised police they were threatened after an altercation arose over unnecessary noise. The investigation into the threats is ongoing.

Also on September 14, the WPS received a complaint of a theft from a motor vehicle. The vehicle was parked on the driveway when the owner observed some individuals near the vehicle. The individuals were scared off, but when the owner later checked their vehicle they found that numerous items including a wallet and cash had been stolen. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Further, on September 14, the Weyburn Police received a complaint of two children who were not being properly cared for. The WPS as well as Social Services attended and two children were apprehended. The investigation with the assistance of the Regina Children's Justice Center is continuing.
