As a result of an ongoing investigation into identifying the driver of a Razor, which included publishing photos of a person who had been reported driving recklessly in the city limits on April 22 and then later failing to stop for police, has now been charged. A 21-year-old male has been located and charged under the Highway Traffic Act with disobeying a signal to stop by a police officer and riding a quad in the city limits. He will be appearing in court later this month.
Police attended to a motor vehicle accident at the railway crossing at 16th Street and Highway 39 on Sept. 29. The subsequent investigation determined the driver of a truck became impatient with a slow-moving train and backed up very fast striking a vehicle that was stopped behind him. There were no injuries but the one vehicle did sustain substantial damage. The male driver of the truck was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with unsafe backing.
Police attended to a two vehicle motor vehicle accident in the 10 Block of Government Road South on Sept. 24. The accident was caused when one driver was stopped in traffic to make a left hand turn and was rear-ended by another vehicle. There were no injuries.
Police attended to a hit-and-run complaint on Sept. 25 after a motor vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 39 and Highway 35. A northwest-bound vehicle was proceeding through a green light when a semi hauling a flatbed trailer failed to stop for a red light, resulting in the northwest-bound vehicle being struck by the trailer. The semi driver failed to stop. The incident remains under investigation.
Police received a report of a theft and mischief after a vehicle that had been parked in the 400 Block of Fifth Avenue SE was "keyed" and had its license plate stolen. There are no suspects at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.
A 23-year-old male was charged with impaired driving and driving while suspended after police observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner on Second Street NE on Sept. 25. The driver was also found to have outstanding arrest warrants from Saskatoon. The individual was later released and will be appearing in court later this month on the criminal code charges.
Police received a complaint of a fight in progress at a local bar on Sept. 26. When police arrived they located two males who were fighting; after breaking up the fight both males were escorted from the premises. No charges were laid.
Police attended to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Government Road and Souris Avenue on Sept. 26. The accident was caused when the driver of one of the vehicles anticipated the light turning green drove forward, striking one of the stopped vehicles. The driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with proceeding before safe to do so.
Police received a report of mischief after a motorcycle was pushed over causing minor damage on Sept. 29. The incident is still under investigation.
Police stopped a vehicle on Government Road in the early morning hours of Sept. 29 and found the driver to be displaying signs of impairment. As a result of the investigation a 47-year-old male received a 24-hour driving suspension.
City police conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 39 on Sept. 29 and as a result of the investigation located a small quantity of marijuana and magic mushrooms. The 23-year-old male was charged with two charges of possession and was released from custody to appear in court later this month.
Police received a report of mischief after someone had damaged a freshly poured concrete driveway on Sept. 29. The damage is estimated to be about $4,000. The incident remains under investigation.
Police attended to a noisy party complaint in the 100 block of Sixth Street on Sunday after receiving a call for service indicating a bunch of kids were on the street smashing beer bottles. A 17-year-old male was charged under the noise bylaw.
