Police charge suspended driver with drug possession

A member of the Weyburn police’s CTSS Unit conducted a traffic stop of a known suspended driver at about 2 p.m. on July 4. As a result of the stop, the 20-year-old male driver was arrested and is now facing charges of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of hydro-morphone, disqualified driving and breaching a previous court order. He will be making a future court appearance.
Weyburn police received a complaint about someone having damaged a parked vehicle by keying it on July 3. The vehicle was parked in the 700 block of Elm Crescent.

A concerned citizen turned a sizable amount of cash into the Weyburn Police having found it in a parking lot on Thursday. If you are missing a significant amount of cash please contact the Weyburn Police to determine if you are the legitimate owner of the property.
City police are investigating a report of damage to a real estate sign located in the 200 block of Government Road South on July 4.

Weyburn police responded to a report of a domestic in progress at about 8:35 p.m. on July 4. Upon arrival, it was found to be a family disagreement and the 30-year-old male who had been causing problems had already left the house. He was located some time later and arrested on outstanding warrants from the Regina Police Service and the Moose Jaw Police Service.
A member of the Weyburn police observed a person who was known to be on curfew conditions at about 9 p.m. on July 4. As a result of being out past the curfew time, the 24-year-old male was arrested and has been charged with breaching his court release conditions. He will be making a future court appearance.
The city police became aware on Wednesday that a 21-year-old woman was threatening self-harm and could not be located by her family. The woman was eventually located and was safe.
While on patrol, a member observed a vehicle making an illegal U-turn at about 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As a result of the traffic stop, the 22-year-old male driver was issued a ticket for making the U-turn as well as having his license suspended and his vehicle was impounded for three days for being over the limit while driving.
City police received a report of an assault involving a 25-year-old male on Friday. The matter is still under investigation.
Weyburn police were dispatched to a local hotel regarding a disturbance in the lobby at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. All parties had left before police arrived and could not be located.
Once again the Weyburn Police Service has received a total of five Internet or phone scams from either the CRA or from HSBC Bank. The police urges everyone to be very cautious about what information they provide on-line or via telephone unless you are certain you know who you are dealing with.
