Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of August 12 to 19:
*On August 17, police conducted a roving check stop program to rule out drinking drivers. Numerous vehicles were checked. As a result a 32-year-old Weyburn male was charged with driving over .08 and with impaired driving and will be making a court appearance.
*Police were called to a report of a fight at a local bar. The confrontation was over upon police arrival. A 24-year-old male and a 21-year-old male were involved. Neither person was co-operative in terms of the investigation. As a result no charges will be laid.
*Police received a report of a theft from a motor vehicle that was left parked at a local bar. Stolen was a small Red STIBILA air compressor. Anyone with information on this theft are asked to contact the police or Crime Stoppers.
*On August 16, police began investigating a complaint of fraud relating to a residential alarm company. Police wish to remind residents of Weyburn that when dealing with door-to-door salespeople they are governed by the Direct Sellers Act. If you ask, they must produce a valid Provincial licence and a City licence. You as the buyer also have 10 days from the date of any contract you may sign to cancel out of the deal with a full refund of money paid.
*Police were called to the skateboard park as a result of a complaint of people consuming alcohol. A 27-year-old male was charged with having open liquor in public and was issued a ticket.
*On August 14, officers encountered a 19-year-old female who showed signs of being extremely intoxicated. One officer knew this person and this was very out of character. A drug test revealed the female was positive for GHB, which is related to the 'date rape' drug family of drugs. This matter is actively under investigation.
Police are urging bar patrons, especially females, to be very cautious of whom they associate with at the bars and to always have control of their alcohol. If you leave a glass or container unattended to, stop drinking from that and order a new drink.

*On August 12, police were called to a report of a shoplifter from a local business. The investigation revealed that a 17-year-old female had stolen numerous articles. A charge of theft against the female has been laid.
