Police continue to warn of scams

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of February 6 to 12: During the reporting period, police dealt with 92 calls for service. Police would like to remind citizens that there still are fraud scams happening in the city.

During the reporting period, police dealt with 92 calls for service.

Police would like to remind citizens that there still are fraud scams happening in the city. If you receive a call stating you won a prize or asking for personal information, chances are the caller is not legitimate.

*On February 11, police conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of Government Road. The driver was a 22 year old male who is now facing charges of driving while over 08 and impaired driving. He will be making a court appearance in March.

*On February 10, a Weyburn Police Service member was not injured after being involved in a motor vehicle accident. The officer was northbound on 3rd Street and was traveling through the Highway 39 intersection when he was hit by an eastbound car. Both vehicles received significant damage and had to be towed from the scene. The driver of the eastbound was vehicle was charged with disobeying a red light.

*On February 9, a business in the 200 block of Sims Avenue contacted police regarding a theft. Someone had removed a grill and headlight from a vehicle while it was parked on the parking lot. Parts will fit a 2007 Chevy truck.

*On February 8, a business in the 10 block of Railway Avenue reported damage to the bathroom. Further investigation revealed someone entered the bathroom and damaged fixtures. Investigation is ongoing.

*On February 7, police were called to a building in the 10 block of 12th Street in regards to mischief complaint. Sometime during the evening, a vehicle struck a drive through door on the building causing significant damage. The investigation is ongoing.

A building in the 10 block of 3rd Street was spray painted during the night.

*On February 6, police were called about a possible sexual assault. Police investigation is still ongoing.

*Police received a complaint of person that appeared to be drunk walking in the area of the General Hospital. A female was located and arrested by Police. Accused was charged for liquor in public and was released to her father.

*Police were called to a break and enter at a home in the 100 block of Hill Avenue. The investigation is ongoing.
