Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of May 13 to 20:

During the reporting period, police received 148 calls for service. Police conducted a number of traffic initiatives in support of the Canada Road Safety Week program. A number of tickets for speeding, cell phone usage and two impaired driving were issued.

This past weekend was the first long weekend of the summer and although the Weyburn Police Service were kept busy, it was nothing out of the ordinary. Long weekends can be unpredictable as to whether or not police see an increase in calls for service and it is quite often dependant on the weather. Nicer weather quite often see folks migrate to the lake to their cabin, or out of town camping. There is always an increase in traffic prior to and following the weekend, so police always encourage highway drivers to "Drive With Care" and "Never drink and drive." All in all it was a good long weekend in the City of Weyburn from a police perspective.
