Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the two-week period of December 19 to January 3:
Over the reporting period the police dealt with 154 calls for service, including attending two residential and two commercial alarms. Christmas and New Years, which can be unpredictable and busy, were for the most part uneventful.
*On January 1, officers were called to a residence following the report of an early morning break-in. The matter is still under investigation.
Police were called to attend a domestic dispute. A 24 year old male was arrested for breaching a Court Order and was held in custody.
*On December 31, New Year's Eve, police responded to a total of 10 calls including two minor domestic disputes, liquor fines and noise complaints.
*On December 30, police began investigating two unrelated complaints of threats being uttered. One case was among family members and was mediated. The other case is ongoing.
*On December 28, police received a report of a break and enter to a residence. At press time nothing appears to have been taken and the investigation is ongoing.
*On December 27, police officers were called to a residence regarding a complaint of a man who had broken into the house and passed out on the couch. A 21 year old Lake Alma man was taken into custody and is facing a charge of mischief.
*On December 26, police began investigating the theft of a diesel powered generator/heater from a residence on 1st Avenue Southwest.
*Police received a report of the theft of a newer pickup truck, trailer and quad. Subsequent investigation showed that the complainant, while highly intoxicated, left the vehicles at a friend's place and did not recall that at the time.
*On December 24, police responded to a complaint at a residence where a male was smashing things in the house and was quite intoxicated. The male had left prior to police arrival and returned an hour and a half later. He was very argumentative and intoxicated but agreed to leave with the police. He was lodged in cells until sober and released the following morning.
*Police responded to a domestic dispute involving family and relatives. One of the individuals was advised to leave and warned that charges may be laid if they were to return.
*December 23, a male was arrested for impaired driving after he drove through a fence and hit a residence. Charges were laid for driving while over .08.
*A male on a bicycle was hit by a vehicle. When the motorist checked on the cyclist, he responded that he was okay. The driver of the vehicle paid the cyclist for the damages to his bike. No charges were laid in the accident.
*Police responded to a dispute between two neighbours. Their issues were discussed and recommendations were made as to future actions. No charges were laid in relation to the dispute.
*Officers attended a domestic dispute between a parent and daughter. The daughter left the residence and when she returned an hour later they continued arguing. The police remained while the parent chose to leave the house.
*During a routine traffic stop an adult and a youth were arrested. The adult was found to be in breach of an undertaking by breaking his curfew. The youth was found to be breaching probation by breaking his curfew. Both individuals were charged, the adult was taken home and the youth was released to his parent.
*A local business was victim of a break and enter when a quantity of cash was taken. An investigation into the break, enter and theft is ongoing.
*On December 22, a vehicle was towed after its driver ran it into the rear of another vehicle that was stopped at the intersection of 16th Street and First Avenue Northeast. There were no injuries in the accident and charges are pending.
*Police responded to a domestic dispute wherein an intoxicated male was escorted out of the residence and was lodged in cells until sober.
*On December 21, a call to remove an intoxicated male was received from a local bar. He was lodged in cells and released after he had sobered up the following morning.
*On December 20, officers attended and did a walk through at the Weyburn Junior High School dance.
*Police responded to a disagreement between two neighbours relating to barking dogs. They were told to stay away from each other and call the police if there were any further problems.
*At approximately 2:00 a.m., an officer on patrol saw a male yelling at and following another male. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant and lodged in cells. He was found to be in possession of cocaine and was charged.
*On December 19, officers attended a number of schools and spoke to teachers and students about traffic safety during the holiday season.
*Police responded to a domestic dispute between two parties at an apartment block. Issues relating to too many people in an apartment were dealt with and both parties were warned about their actions.
*Members were dispatched to a noise complaint at a residence. The occupant was charged under the noise bylaw. He was also charged with possession of marijuana.
*Although the weather has been superb, we wish to remind motorists that the sidewalks and streets, especially during the early morning and nights, are quite slippery and extra driving caution is urged. Have a safe and happy 2012!
