Police investigate a business break-in

City police received a report of a break-and-enter to a business in the 1600 block of Ebel Road on Saturday. The matter is still under investigation.

• Weyburn police received a complaint of a domestic assault at about 2:50 p.m. on Saturday. Upon completion of the investigation, a 40-year-old male was arrested and has been charged with assault with a weapon and assault. He was released on conditions and will be making a court appearance.
• Weyburn police responded to a report of a domestic dispute at about 5:20 p.m. on May 23. During the investigation, it became known that a 44-year-old male who was involved had a warrant for his arrest from Estevan. He was taken into custody without incident and was held until released on the warrant.
• City police were advised by a business of a possible theft of merchandise on Thursday. As a result of the investigation, and with the assistance of the Estevan Police Service, a 56-year-old male has been identified and charged with theft under $5,000. He will be making a court appearance in Weyburn.
• Weyburn police received a request from the Regina Police Service to assist them in locating a 22-year-old male who was wanted on a warrant at about 9:50 a.m. on Friday. The person was believed to be in Weyburn. A short time later the male was located and arrested without incident. He was transported to Regina and turned over to the Regina Police Service.
• City police received a call regarding a minor domestic dispute between a 30-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman at about 10 p.m. on May 23. The matter was mediated without need for further police involvement.
• Weyburn police received a report of an unwanted house guest at about 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. When the police attended the house they found the guest in the process of moving out. No further assistance was required.
• Police received a complaint of a 25-year-old male threatening to harm himself at about 11:30 a.m. on Friday. The male was quickly located and found to have an outstanding arrest warrant from Saskatoon. He was taken into custody without incident and later released.
• Weyburn police received a report of a theft of a purse from a vehicle parked in the Co-op Foods parking lot on Friday. The theft occurred about 4:55 p.m. Stolen was a bright blue-coloured purse. Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Weyburn Police Service at 306-848-3250, or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
• City police conducted a traffic stop on Friday, and a 33-year-old man was charged with driving while suspended.
• Weyburn police received two unrelated calls regarding noisy parties at about 1 a.m. on Saturday. Both were handled by assisting the homeowners with shutting the parties down.
• City police were dispatched to a report of a disturbance in the 10 block of Eighth Avenue SE at about 6 a.m. on Sunday. As a result, a 21-year-old female was arrested at the scene for being intoxicated in public and held in cells until sober.
• Weyburn police received a call of a domestic assault in progress at about 1:10 p.m. on Sunday. As a result of the investigation, a 53-year-old man was arrested and is now facing two charges of assault. He will be making a court appearance.
• City police received a call regarding two quads being operated within city limits at about 6:35 p.m. on Sunday. A patrol was made and the drivers were identified. Two 15-year-old male youths are facing charges under the city bylaw for operating a quad within city limits.
• Weyburn police continue to receive reports this week of a telephone scam involving STARS. Police urge everyone to be diligent when responding to such ‘wins’ and to verify that you have in fact won. It is against the law for any legitimate lottery to charge a fee of any kind to claim a prize.
