Police investigate playground fire at Elks Park

The Weyburn Fire department was called to a fire on the playground equipment at Elks Park on Douglas Road around 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 6.

The Weyburn Fire department was called to a fire on the playground equipment at Elks Park on Douglas Road around 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 6.


The cause of the fire was deemed suspicious and Weyburn Police Services are conducting an arson investigation.

* On Friday, October 4, Police attended a domestic dispute between a 31-year-old female and a 26-year-old male. The couple was found to be intoxicated. The situation was diffused and both individuals went their separate ways.


* Police attended a local bar on Thursday, October 3 to assist employees with an intoxicated male causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, Police observed the male attempt to jump on or under a train. The individual was found to be a 37-year-old male who had outstanding warrants from Saskatoon RCMP. He was arrested and released to appear in court at a later date.


* Police received a report of vandalism to the driver side mirror of the Ministry of Central Services truck that was parked on the City Centre Mall parking lot on Tuesday, October 1. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Weyburn Police Service at 306-848-3250.


* As a result of an altercation at a downtown bar, a 19-year-old male was assaulted and sustained facial injuries on Monday, October 1. A 26-year-old male was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with Assault Causing Bodily Harm and will appear in court later this month.
