Police investigate possession of drugs, theft of a vehicle

Weyburn police received a report of suspicious activity in a vehicle at about 4:25 p.m. on March 7. Upon locating the vehicle, two 19-year-old female occupants were arrested and subsequently charged with possession of marijuana.
• Weyburn police received a report that a 22-year-old female had stolen a vehicle at about 4:20 p.m. on Thursday. The vehicle was located a short distance away but the driver was not present.
As a result of this incident the Ministry of Social Services was contacted and apprehended an infant child and a one-year-old child. The matter is still under investigation.
• The Weyburn police continues to receive complaints regarding computer and telephone scams. As always, police urge anyone receiving any type of communication that they feel is odd to not provide any personal or financial information until they are able to verify that the request is legitimate.
• City police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had a burned-out headlight on Sunday. As a result of the stop, a 16-year-old female and 17-year-old male were charged with possession of marijuana.
• City police were dispatched to a local bar regarding some sort of disturbance at about 11 p.m. on March 7. After sorting out the issue, it appears that there was an altercation between a 31-year-old male victim and antagonists aged 42, 46 and 24 years old. The matter was resolved without any further need for police intervention.
• Police received a report of harassing communications between a 22-year-old male suspect and a 26-year-old female victim on Wednesday. The suspect was spoken to and warned of his actions and that criminal charges could be laid if the communication continues.
• City police received a complaint regarding the erratic behaviors of vehicle occupants travelling near 16th Street at about 5:25 p.m. on Thursday.
The vehicle and occupants were eventually located and it was learned that the occupants, a 35-year-old male and a 27-year-old male, were having an argument. No police action was required.
• In unrelated cases, the Weyburn police provided assistance to two emotionally disturbed people on Friday to receive a medical assessment at the hospital.
• City police received a report of a domestic argument at a local sporting facility at about 10:40 a.m. on Friday. The matter was mediated.
• The past week also saw a number of minor vehicle collisions due mainly to road conditions.
Police wish to remind drivers that regardless of the speed limits, you must drive according to the road conditions.
