Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of February 17 to 23:
During the reporting period, the Weyburn Police Service received 75 calls for service.
*On February 22, police attended to a downtown bar after receiving calls of an individual who was causing problems. Police located a very intoxicated male, who had been bothering other patrons. The male was removed from the bar and taken to his residence.
*Police were called to Crescent Point Place after some individuals were acting up and being overly aggressive and loud. There was a concern the situation may deteriorate into a fight. Police mediated the situation and one fan was requested to leave. No further incidents occurred and no charges were laid.
*On February 20, police received a report of theft after a number of tools were stolen from a job site on Fifth Avenue northeast. Stolen were drills, electric drivers and spare batteries, all were Dewalt brand and had been marked for identification. The incident remains under investigation.
*On February 21, police attended to a northeast residence after being advised by a passerby that a rear window was broken. The investigation determined the house had been broken into and a 9mm pistol was stolen from a gun safe. The incident remains under investigation.
*On February 19, police began an investigation into a hit and run after receiving a report of an accident at Highway #39 and Government Road where one of the drivers had left the scene. Police later located the driver, who was charged under the Traffic Safety Act and is to appear in court at a later date.
*On February 18, police attended to a two vehicle accident in the 500 block of 18th Street northeast, where it was determined that one driver had backed up and failed to see another vehicle. There were no injuries and only minor damage to the vehicles.
*On February 17, patrolling officers found two females causing a disturbance near a local bar. They were yelling and fighting. The officers separated the two individuals and ensured one of them left the parking area. No charges were laid.
*Police attended a three vehicle motor vehicle accident in the 200 block of Third Street south after one driver was driving too fast for road conditions and too close to proceeding vehicles. He was unable to stop when traffic slowed hitting the other vehicles. No injuries were reported and the male driver was charged with driving too close.
