On Friday, a member of the Weyburn Police Service located a vehicle stopped on First Avenue West with substantial damage, but the driver was not at the scene. The investigation later determined the driver had swerved to miss a deer and hit a pole.
On Friday, a member of the Weyburn Police Service located a vehicle stopped on First Avenue West with substantial damage, but the driver was not at the scene. The investigation later determined the driver had swerved to miss a deer and hit a pole. As the accident occurred outside the City of Weyburn, the incident was forwarded to the local RCMP.
Police Service received a complaint on Sept. 1 that a dog which had been running at large entered a yard and killed a pet rabbit. The Humane Society also attended and impounded the dog. The owner of the dog, a 30-year-old female, has been charged under the City Bylaw for allowing a dog to run at large. The accused will be making her first court appearance later this month.
The Weyburn Police Service is also asking for public assistance in identifying an individual who is the suspect of two indecent acts. These incidents occurred at Walmart on Aug. 27 and 28 where a male suspect exposed himself to customers. The male is described as Caucasian, 50-55 years of age, six feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds, bald, and at the time of offence was wearing a camouflage cap, grey T-shirt, and pink shorts.
The Weyburn Police Service attended to a reported break and enter of a dwelling house on Sept. 1. The investigation determined it was domestic related where the couple is separating. Those involved were spoken to and advised the incident was a civil matter and no criminal charges were laid.
Police members attended to a resident in the east end of the city after getting a call of a disturbance.
The occupants, a father and son, were having an argument with items being thrown out on the lawn.
Police spoke to those involved and were able to calm the situation. No charges were laid.
Members of the Weyburn Police Service responded to a complaint on Sept. 4 in the downtown area of an intoxicated person who was causing problems. Police located and arrested a 34-year-old male, who was lodged in cells until sober.
Police received a report of an intoxicated male who had fallen on Friday. Police located the individual who transported him to his home and left him in the care of the resident.
Police Service received calls of a disturbance on Sunday in the area of Government Road and First Avenue. Police members attended and located a male and female who were having a loud verbal argument. Police were able to calm the situation and no further action was taken.
The Weyburn Police Service also focused on traffic speeds and cell phone usage this past week as students returned to school. Motorists are reminded to pay attention and to slow down when in those areas frequented by children coming and going to school.
