Police receive numerous domestic complaints

During the reporting period, police responded to 98 calls for service.

*On March 30, police received a report from a local drinking establishment regarding a possible impaired driver. A 31-year-old male was located, who stated that he had been assaulted by another male. His keys were taken by police and held until a sober driver attended the station. A 20-year-old was arrested for assault and was charged for fighting and for breaching conditions that he not consume alcohol or attend a bar.

*Police mediated a dispute between two tenants. Apparently, one male had eaten the other's food and drank his beer. No charges were laid.

*Police responded to a domestic dispute relating to child custody. Both a male and female alleged that they had been threatened. The matter was resolved peacefully and no charges were laid.

*A male reported that his neighbor was dumping snow from his back yard onto the street. The neighbor could not be located.

*Police received a complaint from a female regarding a child exchange between two separated parents. They were advised to deal with the matter through their lawyers.

*On March 29, officers responded to a domestic dispute at a residence. A male and a female had assaulted each other prior to police arrival. A 26-year-old female left the residence and it appears that no charges will be laid.

*A 17-year-old youth was arrested outside of a residence on warrants and lodged in police cells until he was sober.

*Police removed a 51-year-old male from a residence at the request of a homeowner, he was taken home.

*Police arrested and charged a 15-year-old youth with assault after determining that he had pushed a 13-year-old female.

*On March 28, police attended a youth's residence after a concerned chat room friend stated that the young female may harm herself. The officer checked on the girl and she was found to be okay.

*A resident landlord reported that a tenant had damaged the residence. Officers found that the home was dirty, not damaged, and advised the landlord that the matter was civil.

*A tenant called police after not receiving adequate notice that his landlord would be in his residence. The tenant also claimed that his alcohol was stolen. The theft is under investigation.

*Police received a complaint from a male, who had been standing outside a local bar, alleged that he was almost struck by a passing vehicle. At the request of the complainant, police will speak to the driver once he is located.

*On March 27, two EMS personnel transported a 32-year-old male from a small town outside of Weyburn. They refused to transport the male back home as they felt threatened. Police spoke to the male, who agreed to remain in the police lobby until his brother came to get him.

*On March 26, police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver. The 56-year-old male had attended a counseling meeting and was suspected to have been drinking. He left after being warned about the consequences of driving. Police located the suspect vehicle and the male was arrested and charged for having the care or control of a vehicle while impaired and while over .08.

*A local resident complained about his neighbor blowing snow into his yard. He was advised that the issue was civil and they would have to work things out on their own.

*Police responded to a shoplifting complaint at a local lumber yard. A 21-year-old male was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 after attempting to steal a drill.

*Two vehicles were involved in a collision at a residential intersection. A westbound vehicle left the stop sign before it was safe and then collided with a southbound vehicle. There were minor injuries resulting from the accident. The driver of the west bound vehicle was charged.

*Police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver who left a restaurant without paying his bill. He was located in a bar several minutes later. He was arrested and charged for the theft of food/beverages. The 23-year-old male was held in cells until he was sober.

*On March 25, police responded to a motor vehicle accident at an intersection. Both vehicles were drivable and there was minor damage. The drivers were told to report the accident to SGI.

*The mother of a 15-year-old boy called the police requesting that they attend to assist in dealing with her son. He was upset and was punching holes in the walls. Apparently they had an argument over a video game. The son left to a friend's house to calm down, no further action was required.

*After witnessing an accident where a vehicle ran over a street sign, police received a call from the witness stating that the driver may be impaired. The vehicle could not be located and the accident is under investigation.
