Members of the Estevan Police Service handled a number of calls to start the long weekend.
Police were called to a north Estevan parking lot Friday, where an adult was seen smoking in a car with a child inside. The vehicle was located by police and the adult occupant was served a violation ticket. The public is reminded that it is unlawful to smoke in a vehicle with children inside.
A complaint of an attempted fraud was reported. The suspect told the complainant of a warrant for their arrest. The complainant became suspicious and refused to provide further information. The public is advised to be aware of these types of scams and not to provide any information. Any frauds should be reported to police and the Anti-Fraud Centre.
Police were called to a domestic dispute in a restaurant parking lot. Officers spoke to both parties and were able to resolve the dispute at the scene.
Members were called to a second domestic dispute at a residence in the early morning hours Saturday. One party agreed to leave for the night.
Police were called to a report of a person being followed by a group of people. The matter is under investigation.
Officers arrested a 20-year-old man for being intoxicated in a public place Saturday after being located in an alleyway in the city’s centre core. He was held in custody until sober.
Police were called to a noisy party in south Estevan. The homeowner was warned about the bylaw.
Police are investigating an assault that occurred in the early morning hours Sunday. One of the parties involved sustained minor injuries.
