At approximately 9 p.m. on September 28, the Mac's Convenience Store in Weyburn was robbed. The male suspect is described as 22 to 24 years old, 5'7" - 5'8", slight build and 55 to 60 kg. He was wearing a dark blue hoodie with bold lettering "BCHS" across the front, dark pants, dark shoes, a dark mask and dark sunglasses. He held a large knife in his hand and demanded cash. The clerk turned over a small amount of cash to the suspect, who then fled the scene. Video of the robbery was obtained by the Police and the incident is under investigation.
On September 27, Police responded to a noisy party complaint. A 20 year-old male was warned about the noise and told that any future complaints would result in a charge.
Also on September 27, Police responded to a local business after receiving a complaint of a fight in progress. Officers broke up the fight between two males, aged 26 and 28 years old. There was a small amount of damage to the business but the owner did not want to pursue charges. No charges were laid in the fight.
On September 26, WPS responded to a group home after a 24 year-old male resident assaulted a 20 year-old female worker. The male was charged for assault causing bodily harm and is being lodged at Weyburn Mental Health until his court date.
Also on September 26, officers stopped a vehicle that had left a local restaurant. The 26 year-old female driver showed strong signs of impairment. She was arrested and transported to the Weyburn Police Service. She was subsequently charged with Impaired Driving and Drive While Over .08. She was also issued a ticket for driving while suspended due to unpaid traffic fines. She was released and will appear in court at a later date.
On September 25, Police received a call of a child left unattended in a locked vehicle, the vehicle was running. An officer located and spoke to the parent. She left immediately.
Also on September 25, Police received an anonymous call about an impaired driver. An officer on patrol located the vehicle and found that the driver had signs of impairment. He was arrested and transported to Weyburn Police Services. After numerous attempts to obtain breath samples the 50 year-old male was charged with Impaired Driving and Refuse to Provide Breath Samples. He was released for Court at a later date.
On September 24, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call. A male stated that bottles were being smashed and he hung up. The 24 year-old male homeowner stated that he was having a dispute with another 24 year-old male when he called the police. The second male left after the call was made and no charges were laid.
Also on September 24, Police received a call about a vehicle being cut off by a semi tractor/trailer unit at an intersection. An officer located and spoke to the driver. He denied the allegation and was warned about his driving actions.
As well, on September 24, a number of youths attended Weyburn Police Service. They had been at a person's house when an argument occurred between two individuals which ended in a fight. A 19 year-old female was charged for assaulting a 17 year-old female. The 17 year-old female was charged with assault and threatening to use a weapon against the 19 year-old. Both were released to appear in court at a later date.
On September 23, Police received a complaint about vehicles driving by Safety Patrols at Queen Elizabeth School without stopping. Drivers are reminded to slow down in school zones and obey Safety Patrols instructions. Those areas will be monitored by officers and any drivers disobeying the patrollers will be ticketed.
Also on September 23, a male attended Weyburn Police Service and reported that a 47 year-old male was assaulted. The incident is under investigation.
As well, on September 23, an officer responded to a complaint of a vehicle sitting in the middle of the street on South Hill. It appeared that the vehicle rolled out of a driveway and across the street due to a faulty emergency brake. No one was hurt and no charges were laid.
On September 22, Police responded to a local Group Home after a 24 year-old male resident hit a 65 year-old male resident. An officer talked to both men and staff about the incident. The 24 year-old was warned about his actions.
Also on September 22, Police received a call about a gas drive off from a local gas station. Video footage was reviewed and the theft is under investigation.
As well, on September 22, Police received a call about a possible impaired driver going through the drive-thru at a local restaurant. An officer located the vehicle and spoke to the driver. It appeared that the 69 year-old male was tired and some driving actions may have resulted in the complaint. He was warned about his driving.
Also on September 22, an officer responded to a local apartment building after a tenant's property was damaged. The 26 year-old male reported that when he answered his door, two males and a female entered his apartment. They smashed property and caused damage to the suite and left. Police took a statement and photographs of the damage. The mischief is under investigation.
