The Estevan Police Service and other police agencies from across the province are once again participating in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics this year, although the fundraiser will have a different look.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Special Olympics Saskatchewan will be hosting a virtual torch run as opposed to the traditional event.

“The Estevan Police Service has entered a team and is asking you to consider donating to this very important organization,” Police Chief Paul Ladouceur said in an email.

“We are hoping to reach (or surpass) our fundraising goal, but can’t do it alone.”

As of Sunday afternoon, the EPS had raised $670 of its $5,000 goal.

You can visit https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/FundraisingPage.aspx?registrationID=4700143&langPref=en-CA to support the EPS’s efforts.

Ladouceur pointed out police agencies across Saskatchewan have a long-standing positive relationship with Special Olympics through the Torch Runs, which raise money and awareness.

Anyone can participate in the virtual torch run by logging onto Special Olympics Saskatchewan’s website, creating a fundraising page and logging kilometres by walking, running, cycling or using a treadmill.
