Since its inception, Quota International of Weyburn has always upheld their motto "We Share."
The club is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Since its inception, Quotarians have been quietly providing a multitude of service and fundraising projects for the community.
In the initial years Quota International of Weyburn had thrown Christmas parties for residents in the Saskatchewan Hospital, canvassed for Tuberculosis and the Cancer Society, formed a "sick and visiting" committee that would deliver fruit or flowers to someone in the community, as well as provided a Ladies Restroom on 4th Street for nursing mothers.
They took their cause to an international level donating to the Disabled Chrildren's Home in Korea and to developing drinking wells in Kenya.
Projects developed as the years progressed, said long time Quotarian Isabelle Butters.
Music and the arts were high on the Quota priority list and they sponsored concerts and plays providing entertainment for the community through the Quota Overture Concerts Series and the Festival of Christmas Carols.
"From the beginning and still seen today, is the emphasis Quota places on the disadvantaged segment of our community," said Butters.
These include Envision, the Toy Lending Library, the Music Festival Awards, The Family Place, Adopt a Planter, collecting used hearing aids, as well as being a silver donor to the Triple C Centre.
Currently Quotarians are involved in the community through club auctions, their Just Desserts draw, the Festival of Christmas Carols, and Women of the Year awards.
"In the busy life Quotarians enjoy, club members are not forgotten. One of the standing committees is Quota Cares and support is there whenever needed living up to Quota's motto, we share," said Butters.
