It was a magical night in Redvers at the Rec Centre where the Redvers Early Learning and Child Care Centre presented their third annual Spring Fling Family Dance on Saturday, April 22, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
The evening’s theme was Mermaids and Mermen, so when families walked into the curling rink, they were pleasantly surprised to find they were transported under the sea with decorations. Smiles spread across kids’ faces and off they went to enjoy – dressed in their best – music and dancing, games and activities, a photobooth, candy bar, cupcake bar, healthy snacks, lego beaches, and more.
The event is one of the major fundraisers hosted each year by the Redvers Early Learning Centre.
“We’re still totalling how many people were there, but we estimate over 160 people attended,” Brandy George explained. “It went very well and we had an extremely good turnout. It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year and this is the third year we’ve done it.”
“We had a lot of support this year and strong sponsors that made the event possible.”
The evening had youth entertained and having fun, while they also had the opportunity to win raffle prizes including a kayak or a bike – the big prizes for youth – and a signed Riders jersey – for the adults. Additionally, there were other raffle prizes available and you could improve your chances of winning by purchasing extra tickets to participate in the raffles.
“It was great!” George added. “Each kid got to take home a goodie bag, they all had a lot of fun, and we’re already looking forward to next year.”
