Starting this week, people across Saskatchewan will get active, logging physical activity minutes for a chance to win $10,000 toward a community project designed to inspire active outdoor play. It’s all part of the Go Out and Play Challenge powered by Saskatchewan Blue Cross.
This year’s challenge has plenty of prizes up for grabs including: a $10,000 community grand prize; a $5,000 community runner-up prize; and a $10,000 prize for community or neighbourhood associations in Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw and Prince Albert
The challenge is designed to get communities thinking about places and spaces that encourage active outdoor play. Children are more active when they’re outside, and they move more when they have the freedom to roam and take risks.
Saskatchewan Blue Cross and Saskatchewan In Motion announced that 26 Saskatchewan communities and two community associations have accepted the challenge including: Manor, Oxbow, Regina Beach, Evergreen Community Association (Saskatoon), Lashburn, St. Louis, White City, Langenburg, Buchanan, Eston, Meadow Lake, Kelvington, Dalmeny, Lakeridge Community Association (Saskatoon), Churchbridge, Lloydminster, Wadena, Lanigan, Hanley, Whitewood, Pangman, Ituna, Melfort, Weyburn, Macoun, Allan and Osler.
Saskatchewan Blue Cross and Saskatchewan In Motion challenge all Saskatchewan residents to get moving. Residents can support their favourite community and log physical activity every day from March 1 to 10. Tracking is easily done online and even ‘snowbirds’ can enter minutes to help their hometowns win. Go to challenge.saskatchewaninmotion.ca to get started today.
Saskatchewan In Motion is a province-wide movement of decision makers, influencers, leaders, educators, organizations and families working together toward a common goal: to get more children, more active, more often.
